Wow!...what a hog-hammering weekend! Friday1st Marcus Doporto returned with another friend, Carlos Flores. After about an hour of walking around the opportunity finally presented itself. I watched through my spotting scope as they put a stalk on cluster of about a dozen hogs. Carlos was in position first and before Marcus could get his gun off his shoulder, the hogs bolted........didn't matter as in a dead run Carlos threw down with his Colt .223 and quickly placed the crumpling/cart-wheeling shot on a nice black porker. Later that evening, while Carlos and his Dad quartered his hog, Marcus was in the #1 east stand and a group came in.They didn't stay long and Marcus took "one for the pit". Come back and get a big one soon, Marcus! I appreciate your bringin' folks and your sportmanship attitude of letting your guest get first chance!
Saturday2th afternoon Ron Lilley and friend, Johnny Lasoya arrived and headed to the west end. After kicking up a sow, a few steps further a nice 140#'r busted and ran. Not fast enough for Johnny as he delivered a deadly .243 round and dropped his hog clean. After getting this one put up, Ron had the opportunity to drop a nice sow and finished the evening in a nice rain always welcome at Wilson Hilltop Ranch! Ron and Johnny both understand the value of this nuisance as it balances the needs of the hogs and keeps them healthy! Congratulations Ron and Johnny!
